Laura Prim. The Table as Narrative.
For our second Hot Spot, we invited artist Laura Prim to activate the space and explore what happens around a simple, universal gesture: gathering around a table.
This is how The Table came to life. Ten guests, one table, ten stories waiting to be shared.
The proposal was built around a simple idea: creating an intervention centred on a table in use. The dinner, shared with ten professionals from Mallorca’s hospitality industry, became our tribute to the people who shape the island’s dining culture and the setting where the idea came to life.
Laura was responsible for the evening’s art direction and set design, as well as the photographic documentation that captured the concept. The installation was not conceived as a static composition, but as something to be experienced and transformed. Every element was part of a setting designed to evolve through use, shaped by the meal as it unfolded and the conversations shared around the table.
The premise was clear from the outset: nothing would be cleared away or rearranged once the dinner had ended. The project was documented at two precise moments: before and after.
Before: the table prepared, composed and waiting for its guests to arrive.
And after: the traces left behind. Empty glasses, displaced cutlery and the remnants of a shared moment, revealing that something had taken place there.
More than a series of images, The Table is Laura Prim’s interpretation of a universal gesture. A perspective that captures how a space changes once it is inhabited, and how design moves beyond composition to become a lived experience. The table as a place of gathering. A surface where things happen. A point where relationships, ideas and connections take shape.
The Table activates SPOT through a deeply human gesture. It shows that a space only gains meaning when it is used. Around a table, ideas are shared, collaborations begin, achievements are celebrated and important decisions are made. It is an everyday setting, but also the backdrop to moments that can shape what comes next.
